Boys Will be Boys....

....and they will not listen to their mommies and they will get hurt. We went to Grandma's house today to hang out and have a lazy Sunday. Instead, we ended up in the ER. Aiden was sitting at the kitchen table in a big boy chair and he was goofing around, not sitting still, trying to climb on the table and tipping the chair back. I kept telling him to sit down, that he was going to fall and get hurt, but did he listen to me? Nooo.... And sure enough, he fell. At first, I didn't think he had hit anything, just scared himself. Then he turned to look at me. And there was a nice, deep gash on his upper lip that was starting to drip blood all over the place. And he was screaming. I looked at it and thought it might be deep enough to need stitches, so Grandma grabbed some ice and a cold washcloth and we jumped in the car. He cried the whole way there but was okay by the time we got settled in the waiting room. Long story short, the cut had closed enough by the time the nurse looked at him to not require stitches. The benefits of getting ice on it instantly, I guess. They cleaned it really well and put some Dermabond (basically super glue) over the cut to hold it closed for a few days. That traumatized him, but he was pacified with stickers afterwards and he's been fine ever since. But I'm sure he'll have a nice manly scar on his upper lip now, hopefully to always remind him that he should listen to his mother....nah, probably not....

My other son also kind of freaked me out today. He was moving all over the place this evening so I lifted up my shirt to watch my belly going in all different directions, when I suddenly saw the outline of a little hand pushing up against my belly. Talk about FREAKY! I mean, on the one hand, it was cool, there is really a little person in there, but on the other hand, it was rather disturbing. I guess he was looking for the door. Jack, if you see a light, FOLLOW IT!!!!

Last but not Least

Today I bought the final piece of baby gear that I've been wanting, a double stroller. I've been looking all over online, and in baby stores for the perfect one, and I went with one that Chris actually found a while back. It fits my Graco infant carseat, it has two full seats that adjust position so they can either face each other or both face out, and the rear seat is detachable for when Aiden gets bigger and he can just stand on the back on a platform. A little pricier than other models I've seen, but it's the only one I can find that has all those features in one. So it should be here in about a week, and hopefully so will Jack!

Baby Update

Well...I went to the doctor today for my c-section pre-op appointment/38 week OB appointment. As it turns out, the baby has turned head down. The odds of this happening so late in the pregnancy are very slim, so he's proving that he's a stubborn, unpredictable little rascal. So this means that I am no longer going in for a planned c-section, I am back to a regular, vaginal delivery. So now we are in the "waiting for me to go into labor at any time" phase. The doctor checked me and he said I'm not dilated at all and he's still pretty high, but with second babies they don't usually drop until right before labor begins. So basically, he could come at any time. I was really looking forward to the whole avoiding labor thing, but oh well! I survived it before and decided I wanted to do it again, so I guess I'll live! I've been having a lot of braxton hicks contractions the last few days, more than I ever did with Aiden, so maybe he's gearing up to make an appearance. Anyway, I'll keep you all posted!

Complicated....

Man, selling a car privately is a pain in the rear! I've always just dealt with dealerships, this private party stuff takes forever. I deposited the guy's check today, but the bank put a 5 business day hold on the funds, so I can't get to the money until next Tuesday. Then I have to get a cashier's check for the payoff and take it the bank that we have the loan through (of course it's not the same bank that we actually bank with....), and then wait 3 business days for the title to arrive. I feel kind of bad that this guy has to wait until next Friday to take possession of the car that he's already bought, but until that title is transferred over to his name, I'm responsible for insuring it. So it's staying with me until that happens! Oh well, let's just hope I don't go into labor before all of this is taken care of!

First Steps

So today I accomplished the first thing on my list of "What I need to do to move to Germany". I sold Chris' car!! We were planning on selling it anyway, and we've had it down on the POV lot on Fort Benning for about 3 weeks now, and today I sold it. So after what will hopefully be only a few days of dealing with the banks and paperwork, that will be done and over with. Now, if only selling my house were that easy!

Such a Little Man

Okay, so I know that every mother on the planet thinks that her kid is the cutest thing ever, but seriously, how cute is Aiden in this hat??

Getting Ready

Well, my family came over today to help me get everything ready for this baby. We've got the co-sleeper moved in to the bedroom and set up, the changing table is ready to go, I've got the swing down from the attic, the bouncy chair is put together and the carseat is in the car. I've washed all the baby clothes and organized everything in the drawers. I think I'm ready to go. All I need to do now is pack my hospital bag.

I think Aiden is starting to figure out that this "Jack-Jack" thing we all keep talking about might actually be a big deal. There is suddenly all this stuff in the house for Jack (that he's not allowed to play or climb on), I keep folding lots of little clothes that are too small for him, and my belly is rather noticeable when he tries to hug me or sit on my lap. I think he is really starting to wonder what the heck is going on. Plus, he's gotten extremely clingy all of a sudden. He's still okay whenever I'm gone and he's with Grandma or Grandpa, but as soon as I come home (or he does), he's all over me.

In other news...it looks like we are going back to Germany!!! Chris is supposed to be put on assignment to Hohenfels (for those of you not familiar with Germany, that's a post about 45 minutes or so from where we were stationed before), hopefully as an OC. I say "supposed to" because anything can change, and we don't have orders yet, but it looks pretty for sure. Even so, I'll get excited when I have it in writing! But should this all work out the way it's supposed to, we will be PCSing to Germany within 30 days of Chris returning from Iraq. Which means that I get to execute an overseas PCS with kids, sell my house, AND have a baby while my husband is deployed. I'll be the one making all the arrangements for everything - mostly by myself. If I pull this off and we all make it to Germany in one piece (as well as our stuff), I think I should get my "Army Wife Merit Badge" or something....don't you think?

D-Day

I have been scheduled for a c-section on April 9th! But since that is only 2 days before my due date, I could go into labor earlier. If that happens, obviously I will still have a c-section, but it will happen no later than the 9th. I have a feeling it's going to come fast!

Cute

This right here is why I always wanted to have boys....

And here he is with Maddy at the Easter Egg Hunt on post on Saturday....

Baby Update

I went to the doctor today, and it seems that little Jack is just as stubborn as ever, because he hasn't moved. He's obviously very comfortable in his sideways, head in my ribcage position. So they are scheduling me for a c-section as we speak, and I should find out either tonight or tomorrow sometime what the actual date will be. He said it will be at around 39 weeks, so I'll keep you all updated as soon as I know more. It looks like this baby is coming in around 3 weeks!

The Spa

On Friday, I went to the spa. My friend Amber and I went together (at the prodding of my hubby who earned MAJOR brownie points for sending me). I have never been to a spa for a whole day before; I've gotten facials and manicures but never the whole shebang. We went to Spa Sydell, which is supposed to be one of the top spas in Atlanta, and boy, was it nice!
I started out with an hour-long, full body pregnancy massage, followed by an hour-long signature facial (if you've never gotten a facial, I HIGHLY recommend it!!), then lunch, a deluxe manicure, deluxe pedicure and custom make-up. Talk about pampered!

And yes, you did read correctly that I got a pedicure. Most of you know that this is a huge breakthrough for me, as I have major phobias when it comes to feet. I just can't stand people touching my feet. But I think they were trying their best to break me of my phobia, because I received not one, not two, but three foot massages during the course of the day. The fact that a facial includes a foot massage doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but whatever. I have to admit that after I got over the fact that strange hands were rubbing my feet and I forced myself to unclench my teeth and take a deep breath, it was nice. And my toes look very pretty now with their bright red polish....

So now I'm relaxed and stress-free (yeah, right!), and ready to have this baby. I hope my nail polish lasts, because if I do end up having to endure all the indignities of labor, at least my toes will be pretty when they are up in those stirrups!

I'll update tomorrow on my doctor's appointment, I should find out whether or not the baby has turned, and if I need a c-section or not.

Surprises

Last night I went to what I thought was a dinner party for the wives of Chris' team. Little did I know it was actually a surprise baby shower for me! Turns out everyone I know was in on it, from my Dad who watched Aiden for me, my mom who convinced me to go (Aiden is still sick and I was considering not going), Chris (who was a little panicked when I mentioned I might not go) Brandy, Lindsay, and of course all the other wives on our team, several of whom live out of town.

I just want to say a big thank you to Amber and Kerrianne, and everyone else who was a part of this, I am so appreciative and the whole thing made me feel very special. I received some wonderful gifts, and I am so grateful to everyone for helping to make this all a little bit easier! Army wives rock!!

Also - I brought home a big bunch of balloons from the party for Aiden to play with...he's having a blast with them!

The Wives of NPTT 8890 (there were other people there, but I think they would kill me for posting their picture online... :-))

Another surprise yesterday morning - it snowed. Yep, snowed. It didn't stick at my house, but it stuck for a little while at my parent's house. Here's a picture.

A Trip to the ER

Aiden has had a cold for the last week or so, maybe a little longer. Not an unusual occurrence for him, thanks to all those germy kids at the daycare. Then his ears started draining, again, not that unusual, he gets drainage a lot when he has a cold. So I called his doctor and got some eardrops for him and figured that would be that. Well, last night he woke up at 11 or so with a fever of 102 and starting throwing up everywhere. Also, the drainage in his ears had gotten a lot worse, the drops weren't helping at all. So after a phone call to Grandma for help, it was off to the ER with us.

After the world's shortest ER visit (seriously, we were in and out in about 45 minutes, including the pharmacy!!), the doctor told us that he has an ear infection and bronchitis. Fun, fun. So after actually asking me my opinion on what antibiotic works best for him (I told him Augmentin) he put in the prescription for it and we were on our way. It was refreshing to have a no-nonsense ER doc who actually listened to me and took my opinion seriously. Maybe I wandered into the wrong hospital by mistake?

Anyway, you would never know that Aiden was sick, he doesn't act like anything's bothering him at all, he's running around and being his usual self. You got to love kids!!

March Belly Shot and Baby Update

For those of you who are waiting, here is the March belly shot. I also went to the doctor yesterday, and it seems that this child is already showing his stubborn streak. He has yet to turn head down, and is still in a breech position. My doctor said that if he hasn't turned by the time I'm 36 weeks (2 weeks from now), I'll most likely need to deliver by C-section. Considering the fact that only 5 percent of babies are still breech at the 34 week mark, I'm thinking that's what's going to happen! We could attempt what's called external version, where the doctor tries to turn the baby from the outside by pushing on him, but it's supposed to be very unpleasant for the mother, and can pose some risk to the baby. There is no guarantee it will work, so basically it's a "let's see if this works" method. I think I'll skip it, thanks! So I'll know more in 2 weeks, and if I do end up with a c-section, it will probably be at around the 38 week mark, to make sure I don't go into labor first. So this baby could be arriving sooner than expected!
